Bode George, an elder statesman and former Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has slammed his party’s former governorship candidate in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje.
According to George, a former military officer, Agbaje should never be compared to the late Funsho Williams.
He told The PUNCH that the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Tinubu, may have planted Agbaje in the PDP to destabilize it.
Tinubu and his allies, according to George, will find it difficult to manipulate the state’s upcoming governorship election with the introduction of electronic voting.
When asked why PDP governorship candidates such as the late Funso Williams, Jimi Agbaje, and others failed in previous elections, George said, “Forget about Jimi Agbaje. Let me state it clearly. Bola Tinubu sent him here (to the PDP), and it was the inadequacies and interference, particularly from our party’s locals, that brought Agbaje here. Was Agbaje on our side?
Funso Williams was a true gentleman; he was civilized and gave his all to our party and state. Stop bringing up Jimi Agbaje. He didn’t campaign; instead, he announced a town hall meeting; is that how you win an election? Inquire now if he can attend any congregation. Through his maneuvering, Bola Tinubu brought him here.
“This time, we will not accept it.” This is Berlin’s final battle. I will fight it with everything God has given me, and thankfully, we have electronic voting; let us see how they manipulate it. Enough already! Nigeria must progress.”
He did, however, claim that the PDP candidates could not have won the Lagos governorship because the elections were rigged.
“Elections that from the polling unit, you got the results, but they would write whatever they wanted?” said the PDP leader. It was all a ruse.
“How can one person tell you who would be governor, deputy governor, House of Assembly member, commissioner, Speaker, members, councillors, and all that?” It is directly from his table. Is that what you mean by “participatory democracy”? He is the Emperor. Let them come out for a debate if I’m talking nonsense.”
