Northern Nigeria Will Pay Dearly If ECOWAS Attack Niger – Arewa Youths

Kindly share this story:

AYCF President, Yerima Shettima

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has expressed fears that the Northern region of Nigeria will suffer the hit should the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) use military force against the military junta in the Niger Republic.

We report that there have been concerns following the expiration of the ultimatum issued by the ECOWAS to the military junta in the Niger Republic to relinquish control and restore to power the democratically elected President Mohamed Basoum, who was ousted weeks ago.

Speaking during a recent interview with Channels Television, AYCF President, Yerima Shettima, said that Nigeria, especially the northern region, will pay dearly if ECOWAS decides to use military force to oust the Nigerien military junta.

He warned the regional body led by President Bola Tinubu and the African Union against using military force on the coup plotters.

The forum has also appealed to the coup leaders to immediately commence the transitional arrangement to restore the country back to democratic governance within one year, noting that military rule is no longer fashionable in Africa.

Shettima admonished President Tinubu and ECOWAS to apply diplomacy and dialogue in addressing the political impasse in the West African country.

President Tinubu’s Govt On The Right Direction – Senator Nwaogu

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, said on Sunday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s government is in the right direction.

The federal lawmaker stated this while reacting to the inclusion of Nkiruka Onyejiocha, Dr Betta Edu, Hannatu Musawa, Doris Uzoka, Stella Okotette, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Lola Adejo and Mrs Imam Suleiman Ibrahim on the President’s ministerial nominee list sent to the Senate.

Nwaogu described Tinubu’s ministerial list as an entrenchment of 35 per cent affirmative action for women.

The Abia State indigene expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for upholding the principles of Federal Character in all his appointments so far.

The Tinubu/Shettima Coordinator further commended the President for the appointment of a former representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia in the House of Representatives, Hon Samuel Onuigbo as a Board member of North East Development Commission, NEDC.

Nwaogu further solicited the support of Nigerians for the President Tinubu-led administration, which she described “as a government in the right direction, with the aim to solve the social, economic challenges of Nigeria” and urged the citizens to be patient as the positive effect of Tinubu’s economic policies would be massive.

She expressed confidence that the appointments made by the President would enable him to succeed in transforming the country based on the appointees’ qualifications, cognate experience and achievements.
