Seyi Makinde, Taye Currency and Atiku Abubakar
Popular Fuji musician and an aide to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Taye Adebisi, a.k.a Taye Currency, has stirred speculations as he was seen at the campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
A video clip shared online by Taye Currency himself showed the moment he was singing and chanting Atiku at the PDP presidential campaign rally yesterday in Ibadan, online media reports.
Taye Currency led the entertainment of a mammoth crowd during the “Freedom Walk for Atiku” and the development has raised questions on whether Makinde, his principal, has settled his differences with Atiku ahead of the 2023 elections.
Recall that Taye Currency is a Special Assistant to the Oyo state governor on entertainment. Other supporters of Governor Makinde, such as Bisi Ilaka (PDP candidate for Oyo Central senatorial district election), and Joseph Tegbe (PDP candidate for Oyo South senatorial district), were also reportedly spotted on the campaign train.
We reports that Makinde and the other four governors elected on the platform of the PDP have been at loggerheads with Atiku and the party’s leadership over the party’s national chairmanship position.
The governors, referred to as the G5 governors, have been demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as PDP national chairman and to be replaced by a Southerner.
