Despite not receiving the items he paid for, popular Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, or Basketmouth, claimed that he chose not to sue a business because he did not have faith in the country’s court system.
The comedian admitted that he does not like the nation’s legal system in an interview with Sunday Scoop.
He claimed that since then, he has moved on and acquired another home.
Basketmouth said, “I am not a big fan of the judicial system in Nigeria because of the processes involved. Unfortunately, I don’t trust it. I pushed as much as I could but the guy is someone I respect a lot, and along the line, we became platonic friends. I bought another property and moved on three years after. I kept asking about it but they had a court issue. They told me that they would give me another house, but that hasn’t happened till now.
“I got upset and I was going to call him out but his brother became a king, and out of respect for their family’s name, I backed out.
“I later found a better construction company and I have been dealing with them since.”
He also addressed the issue of performers who are paid for appearances but do not turn up.
Because comedy is not a typical job, he said: “When I hear stories like that, I feel disgusted. If one makes good use of their time, they can attend both events, even if another one arises while they are crafting their material. When a client makes a reservation and the other does not appear, not only have they been let down, but the other has also behaved badly.
